Limbo Travel Consultants
began as somewhat of
a joke around the time
of the first of our
two family vacations
to the Caribbean. The
name “Bimbo Limbo”
came from a line in
a Jimmy Buffett song,
so it seemed to fit
a consulting business
that was loosely based
on the Caribbean. I
was the Mookman, which
I was told, is Caribbean
slang for idiot, or
the boss, or perhaps
both. In any case I
still use the term Mookman,
but the firm has evolved
into far more than a
joke or a song lyric.
Bimbo Limbo
is no longer based on
just the Caribbean,
we have evolved into
a firm consulting on
Island travel worldwide,
but our main concentration
is on the Caribbean
and Cook Islands. My
original goal was to
expose the traveler
to the people and culture
of various regions through
the use of guesthouse
accommodations in lieu
of large destination
resorts. Our goal is
to cross that fine line
between tourist and
traveler and create
a true island experience
for the customer. So
if wide-eyed, open-minded
adventure travel is
your goal, we can help
you reach that goal.
We are not a full service
travel agency and frankly
have little desire to
enter that field. Let’s
face it - the advent
of the Internet has
just about doomed the
traditional travel agent.
Airlines now sell direct
to the public and have
reduced commissions
to a level that has
doomed most agencies.
The few surviving agencies
have had to cut back
service and add fees
to most of their services.
Most have neither the
time nor the financial
incentive to become
experts in remote destinations
such as the Cook Islands
in the South Pacific
or The Grenadines in
the Caribbean.
Why not consult with
someone that wrote the
book about that destination?
Who is better qualified
to advise a customer
than someone who has
researched the destination,
written a book about
it and is constantly
updating that information?
For a nominal fee of
US$40.00 per hour we
will consult with you
by E-mail, and tailor
a trip to your specifications
and budget. Our resources
include numerous lodging
choices that are not
even available to the
traditional travel agencies.
Unless you are planning
a six-month island-hoping
spree, the cost will
not likely exceed US$80.00.
